Persistence: Finding ways to keep moving towards goals and dreams can be done through planning, taking little steps consistently, asking for help, looking for and trying alternatives and diligently working to overcome challenge.

One of my current challenges is… staying calm and rational when my own flaws or external circumstances frustrate me.

I’m learning to take a deep breath, and keep forging on with the things I can do or change… Or take a deep breath and let go of the things that are beyond my control — some things really are not worth persisting with. And learning to be kind to myself in the process, because deciding what I can or shouldn’t persist with is often damn hard.

When deciding whether to persist or not, having support really helps. Not necessarily someone telling you what to do, but someone to listen to you, to cheer you on, just sit with you, or celebrate your choice with you. Your support crew could be anything from a circle of close friends, your parents, your partner and/or children, a large team, online group or community, or just one person. There are many wonderful people in this lifetime who are kind and willing to help you if you reach out.

I do believe that you can take control of your ability to persist in your chosen path, by actively reaching out and surrounding yourself with people that you know would support you. I am immensely grateful to my own circle of supporters who are distributed all around the world. A challenge shared is one step closer to being overcome.
